Marketing and branding are not my strong suits, but sometimes even the layperson can see where things have gone completely wrong.
Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines collaborate in brand marketing. Their recent attempt uses napkins to encourage strangers on planes to exchange phone numbers. After a slew of complaints, the airline is scrambling to remove the napkins.
On most flights, I end up being seated next to a chatterbox. Sometimes it is a good experience, sometimes not. Either way, I do not want this person to have my contact information. Suggesting that people exchange numbers may have been cutesy in 1994, but times have changed. Plug in those earbuds and enjoy your music while reading a book on proper marketing.
