The Naval Research Laboratory has been working on a mini drone called a Cicada, (Covert Autonomous Disposable Aircraft). This drone will be used to collect all types of information from weather data to secret conversations. These drones will be far less expensive than the Reaper or Predator drones which are currently used for surveillance and attacks. While the Cicada will not be equipped to drop bombs, it will be a frugal way to gather information to help military covert operations.
