If you suffer from depression, would you rather combat your symptoms by changing your diet, or take medication? Rush University Medical Center conducted a study that showed the DASH diet, (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), can lower the chances of developing depression.
The DASH diet recommends lowering the intake of red meat and saturated fats while increasing lean meats, fruits and vegetables. After following participants on the diet for six and a half years, researchers can definitively say your risk for depression will be reduced. Lose weight and beat depression? Sounds like a win-win situation!
