January Displays

Time For Fresh New Displays In The Prescott Campus Library!

Denniston's Wood Vase*All of you – but especially all you WOODWORKERS out there – will want to come see the work of community member and former YC student, Bill Denniston. Bill retired here from California a number of years ago, and he began taking woodworking classes at YC at that time. His work is outstanding, and he features a number of exotic woods, some of which are no longer available on the market. The display is in the standing case near the front door of the library, and also in 4 cases on the reference stack across from the case. It will remain up until the end of February, so don’t miss it!

Percy Portrait*We are happy to present portraits by Percy Thompson along with a couple of his landscapes. Percy is a YC student who has been with us for 3 years. He was originally from the Midwest, and says that art has been his life since 1980. He brought us 6 of his charcoal portraits and 5 pastels. You will not want to miss seeing his powerful paintings. His black and white charcoals evoke amazing emotions. He paints the souls of his subjects for us to see! His display will be up until the end of February.

Barb's water bird gourd*The standing glass case near the outdoor reading patio features a sculpture/ceramics exhibit on loan to us by library staff member Patsy Jackson. Pieces in the exhibit include work done with wood, metal, wire, ceramics, basketry, and glass. All but one of the pieces were done by local artists/craftsmen, including some by YC students and teachers.

*Dana Cohn, an instructor in the YC Art Department, has brought us a new piece of his work for all to view. It is beside the front door of the library and is an oil on canvas work 48” x 56” entitled “Her”, a portrait of Mother Nature.
